We made our first major mistake of the trip, but probably not the last, this morning.  We missed our ferry across Lake Michigan.  We have been traveling with friends the last couple of days in an organized tour.  If you have never been on an organized tour, I will explain how it works.  One or several members plan out tour routes and they are compiled in a tour booklet that becomes your "bible" for the duration of the tour.  It tells you what time you need to leave in the morning, highlights of the day, where you need to make each turn plus any other information you may need for that particular day.  Once we joined the tour, we didn't need to consult actual maps since the route was already laid out with mileage between turns.  Somehow we though we were going to be with the group for three days of touring, but actually it was Sunday, the day people began to arrive for the tour at the host hotel, and 2 days of touring.

We left the hotel this morning with the belief that we were touring with the group all day today and leaving them tomorrow.  It wasn't until we arrived in Luddington about 10:30 this morning that it occurred to us that we had made a bad mistake.  We were to have left Luddington on the ferry this morning about 8:00 AM.  The next ferry is not until tomorrow morning!

Oh well, you take the situation as it is and try to do the best with the situation you are in. We made reservations for tomorrow morning's ferry, made phone calls to our tour directors and friends on the tour we were supposed to have lunch with today and another set of friends we were to have dinner with tonight to let them know we would be remaining in Luddington. We had to contact people on the Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan that were to meet us at the ferry to let them know of the change in plans and several others in Wisconsin to let them know we are going to be a day behind schedule.

I told in the last post about the Register of Unusual Mailboxes.  Here is the website showing all of them:  hongkiat.com.  Some of them are a scream.

Tomorrow morning at 7:00 AM we will be at the ferry, having already taken motion sickness medication, prepared for the several hour ferry ride.
