No posting yesterday due to a technical mishap.  Somewhere this side of The Henry Ford Museum there is a little 6 inch attachment to the power cord to my laptop.  We believe it to be at a Bob Evans Restaurant somewhere!!  We had to purchase a whole new power cord and attachment - a minor fortune - before we could be up and running again.  I am considering starting a new fashion trend - wearing a laptop power cord as a necklace so I can keep track of it.  Ugly, but hey, if I can keep track of it that way, it's worth people looking at me funny.

We spent Friday night with Evergreen B & B Club couple, Molly and Jim Walker in Ann Arbor.  Molly is English and has been a language teacher-Spanish, French and Italian and Jim's passion is rally racing.  After a lovely visit with the Walkers, Joe and I were invited to the First Saturday Warehouse gathering at Bill Blanchard's warehouse.  It was a gathering of car enthusiasts - with mostly high performance cars - but all were welcoming to us and admired our old brass era car.  Jim led us out of Ann Arbor to Rt 12 which led us on to Jackson, Michigan, our next stop.  He went way beyond helpful and we are so appreciative of his assistance.

Saturday we drove along beautiful rural Michigan back roads, through mature hardwood forests of several varieties of oak, maple and others, with wild grapevines along old fence lines and wild phlox in white and pink along the side of the road.

Country lane in Michigan.

Another country lane in Michigan.

Pond with waterlilies - not in bloom yet, but still a lovely view.

We had bought our 1912 E-M-F car from Leo and Phyl Warren in Michigan about 7-8 years ago and had arranged to visit with them.  They shared with us their collection of cars and great shop.  You just never know what is tucked behind someone's house.  It a great to renew their acquaintance.

Phyl Warren in front of car barn.

My favorite of their vehicles was an early 1950's Darrin made by Kaiser Frazer.  The doors slide forward into the front fender of the car, a very unique feature.

Joe had recently had his brass headlights and side lanterns reconditioned and we had the opportunity to visit Rick and Sharon Britton in Ceresco, Michigan.  Rick had remanufactured the rims for the headlights and done a super job.

Just some of the wooden and metal molds Rick uses to spin brass lamp and headlight parts.  They remind me of the wooden hat molds milliner's used to make hats in the early days.

Inside Rick's shop - just a few of his specialized "tools of the trade".

Not far from Rick Britten's shop and Leo Warren's home, we passed an interesting place that just had to be explored.  They restored antique travel trailers.

Two of many on their lot.

Many more in the field outside.

My favorite of all the trailers - turquoise and white streamlined beauty with Route 66 painted inside the front door - pure nostalgia!

This photo is especially for my sister, Janet, who used to collect old lawn chairs.  Janet's collection was more colorful and diverse, but Janet, this one is for you.

Saturday night we arrived in Kalamazoo, Michigan where we are joining up with the Snapper's Region of AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) for a tour beginning here in Kalamazoo today, Sunday.  We will be with them for 3 days while they are traveling in our general direction.  It's good to see old friends again.  After traveling for over a week we were tired, slept the sleep of the dead Saturday night, and I took a long nap today.  Joe was out trying to find a new computer power cord for the laptop.  He is a patient and tolerant man!  I think I will keep him!  He will write another Steering Column technical update this evening - I'll let him tell you about the roads here in Michigan!!
